Minor's Advocacy resides within County Administration. The attorneys in the division of the Minor's Advocacy Office represent minors in court and advocate for them with the courts, the Human Services Agency, schools, the Probation Department, etc.
Effective January 1, 2021, SB 203 requires that youth under the age of 18 consult with an attorney in person, by telephone, or by video conference prior to a custodial interrogation and waiving Miranda rights. This consultation may not be waived.
