Kings County has active boards and commissions that serve a specific purpose, supporting the Kings County community by managing projects, making policy recommendations to the Board of Supervisors, and representing the public at large in the decision-making process.

Meetings are open to the public and all are welcome to attend. Members of the public are encouraged to apply and serve on these boards. Each board has its own selection criteria. For more information, please visit the page of each board and commission.

Local Appointments List 2024 (UPDATED ANNUALLY IN DECEMBER)

In accordance with California Government Code, Title 5, Division 2, Part 1, Chapter 11, Section 54972 & 54973 (Maddy Act) the document linked above is a Local Appointment List of all known vacancies that currently exist and/or will occur in 2023 which is required to be posted by December 31st of each calendar year. The name of incumbents, date of appointment, their current term expiration and any necessary qualifications are listed. The names on the list are subject to change based on term expirations and resignations that occur during this year. This list incudes all Boards, Commissions, and Committees whose members serve at the pleasure of the Board of Supervisors & the necessary qualifications for appointment to each position. The list also incudes those Special Districts within Kings County that the Board of Supervisors has jurisdiction over member appointments and are required to include as part of this listing.
