Law Enforcement Exploring is a division of the Boy Scouts of America that give you hands-on look at that a career in law enforcement is really like. The Kings County Sheriff's Office has supported an active Explorer Post Program for young persons between the ages of 14 and 21 for over sixteen years.  Kings County Sheriff's Explorers attend community service events, ride-alongs, and regularly scheduled meetings / trainings.

  • Community Service

Explorers serve the community in a variety of ways.  Explorers direct traffic at multiple community events, assist with crime prevention programs and assist with security detail.

  • Ride-Alongs

Once an Explorer becomes eligible, they can participate in the ride-along program.  While the Explorer is on a ride-along they assist patrol Deputies with becoming an extra set of eyes and ears and assists the Deputies on calls for service.  The ride-along program also gives Explorers a first hand look of being a Deputy and the career of law enforcement.

  • Meetings

The Post has meetings/trainings one Saturday and two Wednesday's of each month.  The meetings/trainings can vary depending on any events the post is attending.
