Personal Items: Parents/Guardians/Persons Standing in Loco Parentis are allowed to provide youth the following items:
- 1 Soft cover Bible
- 2 Soft cover books
- 10 Stamps / 10 Envelopes
- All letters and photos must go through the mail.
No Exceptions.
Medical: If there are any questions regarding medical issues while the youth is at the Kings County Juvenile Center (KCJC), please be advised that staff is not allowed to answer any medical questions and you will be required to contact the contracted medical provider, NaphCare Inc. at (559) 852-2974.
Visiting Days/Times and General Information: During the initial phone call between you and the youth, KCJC staff will advise the visitation days and times for the unit in which the youth is assigned. If any changes occur in the youth’s housing unit, you will be contact and advised. All visitors, including parents/guardians/persons standing in Loco Parentis must check in 15 minutes prior to the scheduled visit; and have proper photo identification. No visitors will be allowed to visit once visitation has begun. Please ensure you are here by appropriate time to sign in.
Visiting parents/guardians/persons standing in Loco Parentis will be escorted in one group to the visiting area. THERE WILL BE NO EXCEPTIONS. No purses or cell phones are allowed in the facility. No caps, hats, or sunglasses will be worn during visiting. Visitors must wear appropriate clothing; revealing clothing, short shorts, and clothing with alcohol, drugs, sex or gang related topics will NOT be allowed. Your visit can be refused if you are dressed inappropriately. And gang related tattoos need to be fully covered before entering the facility. If gang related tattoos are not fully covered or not approved by KCJC staff, you will not be allowed to visit. Any visitor wearing gang related clothing/insignia, such as red or blue clothing, will not be allowed to enter the facility. There will be NO EXCEPTIONS. Any inappropriate discussions, topics and/or profanity by parents/guardians/persons standing in Loco Parentis and/or the youth is unacceptable and your visit will be/can be terminated immediately.
All youths’ needs are provided for such as food, clothing and personal hygiene items while they are at the Kings County Juvenile Center (KCJC). You may purchase one (1) soda and (1) candy item (no monster drinks, gum, life savers or starbursts). If the youth is caught with a second drink or second candy item, the visit will be/can be terminated and/or soda and candy privilege taken away.
All parents/guardians/persons standing in Loco Parentis will be held accountable for all the visiting rules. It is the parent/guardian/person standing in Loco Parentis responsibility to read, understand and follow the rules. If you do not, you will not be allowed in the facility for visiting and/or your visit will be terminated. If it is discovered you provided contraband to any youth, your visiting privilege will be terminated immediately and any future visitation may be impacted.
