History of the Museum:
The Kings County Museum was born as a part of the celebration of Kings County's first Homecoming and Pioneer collecting items which would show the history of the county. Aided by interested citizens, the club purchased the outstanding antique collection of veterinarian Dr.Frank Griffith. These and many other relics from days gone by were gathered and placed on display.
County Supervisor, C.R. Swanson and his wife Bernice, offered to donate and build a structure at Burris Park for the Museum. The county accepted this generous offer, and the museum opened in the summer of 1955 in it's new home.
Mission:
The Kings County Museum is dedicated to the collection, preservation, study, and exhibition of objects illustrating the history of Kings County and the lower Kings River region.For Questions and Tours call:
