About Us

The County Assessor is a constitutionally elected official responsible for discovery, valuation and enrollment of all locally assessable property within Kings County.

The Kings County Assessor's Office is committed to a philosophy of service and accountability to the public, whose interest is best served through the sound administration of the property tax laws.

Consistent with this philosophy we will:

  • Be diligent in identifying ways to improve and simplify the process for understanding property tax assessments
  • Be persistent in promoting and encouraging voluntary compliance with the property tax law

Assessed Values Online

The Kings County Assessor's Office has recently completed a conversion to the Megabyte Property Tax System.  As part of this conversion, we are pleased to announce the launch of a new online information portal.  You may now access online assessed values.

Kings County Low Value Ordinance

A low value ordinance authorizes the Kings County Assessor to cancel regular property assessments of $10,000 or less, equivalent to a $100 tax bill, beginning with the 2023/2024 tax year. It also eliminates supplemental and escape assessments of $5,000 or less starting January 1, 2023. The ordinance applies to real property (land and structures) and personal property (business equipment, boats and aircraft). Important Information for Property Owners Regarding Proposition 19 Impact:

Proposition 19, as passed by voters on November 3, 2020, provides for changes pertaining to the Parent-to-Child property tax exclusion rules effective February 16, 2021. Additional changes, pertaining to the provisions of transferring a taxpayer's property tax base to another residence, take effect on April 1, 2021.
