 Low-Cost Spay & Neuter

APPOINTMENTS ARE CLOSED UNTIL FEBRUARY 2025

We only offer low-cost spay and neuter services for cats at this time.

CATS: $60 (includes a rabies vaccine if pet is older than 3 months)

Appointments are only for residents of Kings County. Limit 3 cats per household/colony/address per appointment date.

You can make an appointment online here. Once you have requested an appointment, you will have 30 minutes to pay the non-refundable $10 deposit, or your appointment will be canceled.

We understand the frustration with appointment availability. Despite a staffing shortage, our commitment to our cat spay and neuter program remains a priority. Please bear with us as we navigate challenges. Appointments are limited to 20 per week, appointments open every Tuesday at midnight and fill up quickly. Once appointments are filled for the week you will have to wait until the following Tuesday to make an appointment. Your patience is appreciated.

For quicker options, consider HOPE Animal Foundation in Fresno or Valley Oak SPCA Spay and Neuter Clinic in Visalia for low-cost alternatives. Your regular veterinarian is also an option.

 Licensing

In Kings County, all dogs are required to be licensed and vaccinated against rabies. We license for Armona, Stratford, Kettleman City, NAS Lemoore, and those outside of the Hanford and Lemoore city limits.

Kings County Animal Services has partnered with DocuPet to provide an enhanced pet licensing experience for residents. Your pet’s license now includes DocuPet’s free HomeSafe™ 24/7 lost pet service and designer license tags with personalization options. Additionally, 20% of every designer tag purchase is donated to Kings County Animal Services through DocuPet’s Safe&Happy Fund.

Our new licensing process with DocuPet allows residents to select a standard license tag at no additional charge or upgrade to one of DocuPet’s colorful designer tag styles for $15.

Visit kingscounty.docupet.com to license your dog now and browse hundreds of license tag styles.

Licenses are good for the length of your pet's rabies vaccine. Prices are $10 - 1 year,  $15 - 2 year, $20 - 3 year.

 Pet Pantry

 Mission

The goal of this program is to stop the surrender of pets due to the owner’s financial inability to provide care. We provide free pet food twice a month.

This program is designed as a temporary – not permanent – solution to help owners and their beloved pets stay together during times of financial crisis. It is designed to serve families on a first-come, first-serve basis.

The Pet Pantry is operated solely through the generosity and donations of good Samaritans and is NOT federally funded. As we are dependent on donations, we have to limit the program’s assistance to a maximum of four pets per household.

Held on the second and fourth Friday of every month from 2pm to 3pm.

  • Kibbles are a mixture of donated foods, so that pets are less likely to react to changed in diet
  • Plastic buckets or bags must be returned clean and dry to receive food.
  • Recipients must provide their own transportation.
