Claims against the County of Kings are filed with the Clerk of the Board.

For personal injury or personal property damage, you must file your claim within six (6) months of the date of the injury. (There are a few exceptions. Refer to California Government Code section 905 and section 911.2 or talk to a lawyer.)

For breach of contract and real property damage cases: You must file your claim within one (1) year of the date the contract was broken, or the real property damage occurred.

Presentation of a fraudulent claim is a felony. Refer to California Penal Code Section 72.

A claim form is available by clicking on the link below or may be picked up at the Office of the Board of Supervisors.

What happens next?

Once the Clerk of the Board receives your claim, it will be sent to the Risk Management Division.

Risk Management staff will investigate your claim, and you should hear back on the status of your claim within 45 days of the presentation of your claim. Any questions should be directed to the Risk Management Division at (559) 852-2374.
